Labrinth - Mount Everest (Studio Performance) When Timothy Lee McKenzie chose the moniker Labrinth for his music career, it’s a wonder if he realized just how perfectly reflective it’d be of himself. Born in Hackney, the now 31-year-old’s long and winding career really took off back in 2010, co-writing and producing the Tinie Tempah pop banger “Pass Out.” In less than a decade he’s hopped in the studio with some of pop and EDM’s biggest names, Kygo, Diplo and Sia. With him, the latter two form the trio LSD - Labrinth, Sia, Diplo; their 2019 project racked up hundreds of millions of streams. He’s also shown incredible versatility - “Jealous,” which is maybe his commercially biggest song to date, is acoustically inspired by the warmth and soul of the Nashville sound. He added another dash to his multi-hyphenates when he helmed the critically acclaimed “Euphoria” soundtrack last year. Supporting the winter release of his second solo studio album, 'Imagination & the Misfit Kid,’ Labrinth played a couple cuts from it in the studio. In interviews, he confesses this record feels like a debut. "Mount Everest" is a booming canticle of self-empowerment, with so much attitude you might wanna pay mind to your speakers.
