The Academic - Acting My Age. An exclusive performance for Vevo DSCVR, the channel for the best in new music. The Academic is a reminder of Ireland’s creative power. The quartet’s origins are rooted in County Westmeath, but there’s a coastal sound to the band - their music is steeped in gauzy romanticism. “Gimme a love/a love that comes easy,” sings Craig Fitzgerald on last year’s “Aftertaste.” Two years ago, their ‘Tales from the Backseat’ debut topped the Irish charts, prompting opportunities to tour with Cage the Elephant and The Rolling Stones. Funny enough, the band’s Instagram reveals the amount of time they spend near water - hanging in the scenic seaport of Dingle or strumming acoustic guitars at Lough Ennel. In the vid for “Acting My Age,” one of 2020's catchiest rock songs, they rip donuts in retro cars on the shoreline as the sun sets over the ocean. The band hit our London studio blast through that one and “Anything Could Happen.” Crank the volume and have the sounds of live rock music wash over you once again.
